Ron Kincaid
Lead Pastor |
Ron
Kincaid was born in Menlo Park, California
and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lewis
and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, his
Master of Divinity from Trinity University

that leads people into a growing relationship
with Christ.

Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Tom came to
faith in Christ his sophomore year of college.
Andy Armstrong and Daryl Warner were instrumental

a pastor for almost 20 years in the Portland

for him. One of Tom’s favorite passages
in the Bible is II Timothy 2:1-2, “You therefore,
my son, be strong in the grace that is in
Christ Jesus. The things which you have
heard from me in the presence of many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be
able to teach others also.” (NASB)

Rick McNeal
Director of
Creative Worship |
Rick
was born and raised in the greater Portland-metro
area and has lived in the Pacific Northwest
his entire life. He is a classically trained
saxophonist with a degree in music performance
from George Fox University. He has been
serving in church music for more than 10
years and is currently completing a Masters
of Worship Studies at West Coast Bible College
and Seminary.
While Rick is deeply passionate about
worshiping God through music, his heart
also yearns to help people understand that
worship is so much more than music. Biblical
worship encompasses the whole life (Romans
12:1). At any given moment, everyone is
worshiping someone or something. Consequently,
Rick hopes to equip others with the knowledge
and skill to be unceasing worshipers of
God.
Rick is married to an enchanting redhead
named Christine, and they have a son whose
name, Ariy (pronounced AR-EE), means “lion”
in Hebrew. You can keep tabs on Rick and
his family at

Christine
Lengele
Director of Children’s
Ministry |
I
have worked in early childhood and Christian
education for 16 years. I have volunteered
in Sunday school classrooms and Vacation
Bible School for more than 20 years. I believe
parents, families, and friends are an important
part of nurturing a child’s faith and love
for God.
I grew up in a Christian home. My father
took us to church every Sunday. We prayed
together daily at the dinner table. My mother
talked with me about God, her faith, and
prayer. I attended a Christian camp while
visiting my cousin in Kansas when I was
10 years-old. The activities, the energy,
the kindness of the leaders, and the love
they showed for Jesus drew me in, and I
wanted a closer, more personal relationship
with Jesus. As an adult I have continued
to grow in my faith through Bible study,
worship, seminars, conferences, and retreats.
My faith, prayer, and Jesus have helped
me through many difficult and painful events
in my life.
I am married to Michael, a Hillsboro
firefighter, and between us we have five
adult children and one daughter in-law.
We enjoy spending time together, playing
golf, bowling, and going to OSU Beaver games!
God has indeed blessed me by allowing
me to be a part of the ministry at Portland
Community Church.

ELDERS |

|
Charles Layman |
I am a native Oregonian.
I have been married to my wife, Debbie,
for the past 35 years, and we have four
wonderful adult children. I am currently
practicing hand surgery and reconstructive
plastic surgery and have been in practice
since 1983.
I was raised by Christian
parents and have been attending church for
as long as I can remember. I accepted Christ
as my Lord and Savior when I was about age
8. Since then, I have experienced a growth
in my faith through church attendance, studying
the Scriptures, prayer, and by the people
that God has placed in my path.
Over the years I have
been influenced greatly by pastors whose
churches I have attended, my wonderful Christian
wife, and colleagues in the Christian Medical
and Dental Association.

Sam Rich |
I
am a retired Hillsboro public school teacher,
counselor, and administrator (most of my
career was in counseling). After retirement,
I worked part-time in the Beaverton School
District as a teacher and counselor. I also
managed the STARS (Students Today Aren’t
Ready for Sex) program for Beaverton for
seven years. I am currently working part-time
at Portland State University as a supervisor
for teacher candidates, a position I have
held for 11 years. In addition, I have operated
a small, fully-licensed landscape business
for over 35 years during the summer breaks.
I am married to my beautiful wife, Donna.
I was raised in a strong
Christian home and attended a Baptist church
for many years. I accepted Christ in late
elementary school. Being raised in a Christian
home has many advantages in terms of getting
to know the Christian life and the Bible.
However, it becomes more of a process of
growth in Christ than a sudden conversion
might. The challenge I faced was making
my upbringing a personal decision rather
than an upbringing expectation. I reached
that personal decision in late high school.
My journey since then has been slow but
steady growth in my relationship with God
and Jesus. I have experienced ups and downs
in that growth experience, even to the point
of not reading the Bible or praying much
for a period of time. However, the last
several years I have been faithful in my
reading and praying, and feel much stronger
in my faith as a result.
Over the years, I have
been blessed to have known three men who
had a strong impact on my life. My fourth
grade Sunday School teacher, our high school
youth adviser, and a fellow member of our
former church with whom I worked closely
during a difficult time in the life of that
church. Each of them helped me in my growth
as a Christian.

Bill Smith |
My name is Bill Smith
and my wife’s name is Christie. I am currently
a teacher and a coach at Century High School
in Hillsboro, Oregon. This is my 28th year
teaching and coaching! I teach math and
P.E., and I am the Head Football Coach at
Century High School. I accepted Christ at
a young age but chose not to walk with him
until later in life. It was not until I
started teaching in Molalla that I met Dave
Brown, a former center for the 1972 USC
national championship football team. Dave
was very instrumental in mentoring me to
strengthen my faith and to learn to trust
in the Lord. I believe that God sent me
to Molalla so I could be around Dave Brown.
After I left Molalla, I went to Madison
high school where I met my wife Christie.
Before marrying, we both sensed that something
was missing in our lives and started to
attend a different church. After we heard
Pastor Ron preach from the book of Romans,
we knew we had found our church home. Now,
we are the proud parents of four wonderful
kids (William, Marie, Caroline, and Robert),
and I feel blessed more now than ever. It
is an honor to be an elder with Portland
Community Church, and I am excited to be
a part of something special.
